The Mental Health Centre was established in January 2004 and was developed and professionalized in June 2016, with the inauguration of the new 9 story building
The Mental Health Centre was established in January 2004 by founder and president of Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Centre, Dr. Moshe Rothschild, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, with the goal of addressing and treating mental health in the community. The Mental Health Centre aims to raise public awareness of mental health, and reduce the stigma and prejudice that prevent many individuals from seeking treatment. The Centre addresses the needs of the patients while keeping their unique values, with a thorough understanding of their worldview and way of life. The Centre employs over 65 staff members, including: psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, animal therapists, art therapists, music therapists, psychodrama therapists, movement therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, therapeutic gardening and Kung-Fu courses. In order to maximize treatment results, the clinic team conducts regular appraisal meetings with an integrated team approach.
In the last week of November 2019, Professor Rael Strous, the South African-born medical director of Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Centre, and professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine, was in London for a busy round of meetings and events organised by the British Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua.
