The Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Centre provides urgent and emergency treatment to patients with illnesses or injuries requiring immediate and sometimes lifesaving treatment.
A patient arriving at the Emergency Room is given a comprehensive physical examination by a nurse and physician, who perform further tests, according to their condition. After the first examination, the patient is transfered from Emergency Medicine to the department where he will be treated. if possible, he is discharged with instroctions how to take care of himsef at home.
There is immediate access to the adjacent imaging department including MRI, Catheterization, CT, X-Ray and Flouroscopy.
Despite the large turnover of patients, the staff ensure that there are beds available for every patient likely to arrive, at any time, 24 hours a day.
In the last week of November 2019, Professor Rael Strous, the South African-born medical director of Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Centre, and professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine, was in London for a busy round of meetings and events organised by the British Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua.
