Moving Dedication Ceremony of the Mordechai Fachler Family Therapy Unit
Pessach / 13th April 2017:
The dedication ceremony of The Mordechai Fachler Family Therapy Unit was held during Chol Hamo’ed Pesach in the presence of family, friends, hospital management, and board members of the British Friends.
Chaim Fachler, the hospital’s Director of International Resource Development and brother of the late Rabbi Mordechai Fachler z”l, welcomed the guests, and the hospital’s founder and president, Dr Moshe Rothschild, spoke about the special partnership between the hospital and the British Friends. Rabbi Fachler’s sons – David, Chily and Gaby – thanked Mayanei Hayeshua for allowing their father’s legacy to be perpetuated through the Unit.
Dr Michael Bunzel, Medical Director of the Psychiatric Outpatients Clinics, told guests that the Unit will serve families with psychiatric and psychological needs that go beyond the more traditional family therapy protocols. Mayanei Hayeshua’s newly-opened Mental Health Building is already revolutionising how the Orthodox community approaches the issue of Mental Health.
The hospital staff and rabbinical team work closely with the community to engage and promote awareness and treatment, and to finally eradicate the stigma of Mental Health.
In the last week of November 2019, Professor Rael Strous, the South African-born medical director of Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Centre, and professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine, was in London for a busy round of meetings and events organised by the British Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua.
