Over 14 Million Shekels raised within 36 hours
• Matching Crowdfunding Campaign successfully completed
• Record number of 20,000 individual donors participated
• Donations continue to arrive even after official campaign closing
• CEO Shlomo Rothschild: “The worldwide response has been phenomenal.”
In an unprecedented campaign, over 20,000 individuals from all over the world contributed more than 14,000,000 Shekels enabling Mayanei Hayeshua to plan the immediate completion of the Department of Eating Disorders and to construct the long awaited Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The campaign was launched to perpetuate the life mission of the late Dr. Moshe Rothchild, iconic founder of the hospital. Hundreds of volunteers from diverse backgrounds operated the central headquarters at the hospital, as well as “command centres” in London and New York. Many of Mayanei’s own staff members – from doctors and nurses to maintenance workers – recruited their personal friends and acquaintances to support this important cause, and to acknowledge their appreciation to Dr Rothschild z”l.
Several renowned rabbis and public figures also personally participated in the fundraising drive, encouraging everyone to donate towards these urgent projects.
At the conclusion of the frenetic 36-hour campaign, Mayanei’s C.E.O. Shlomo Rothschild expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated, making special mention of the generous matching donors, and the inspired work done by local Ladies Forum headed by Zipi Rotlevi, the American Committee headed by Toby Fried and Anna Roth, and the British Friends team headed by Stephen Goldberg and family, Sara Cohen and Graham Calvert.
In the last week of November 2019, Professor Rael Strous, the South African-born medical director of Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Centre, and professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine, was in London for a busy round of meetings and events organised by the British Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua.
