The staff treating at Mayanei Hayeshua already know the patients spiritually and religious world and set a goal to keep the special orthodox values and lifestyle while being alert to the sensitivity and fit to the lifestyle, worldview and the family system.
The treatments at Eating Disorders Department are taking place in parallel to the girls continuous functioning in the community- studies, work, society, residence.
The staff at Mayanei Hayeshua underwent intensive training in the Anorexia and Eating Disorders fields, and working in multidisciplinary cooperation while creating a special individual program to each patient separately, suitable to her own needs and her rate of progress in an intimacy and family like environment, with emphasis on effort coordination and work recommendations of every member in the multidisciplinary staff that is involved in treating the girl on one sided manner and continuous treating.
The approach allows building a unique treatment plan to the girl, while focusing all resources to raise motivation while building a unified coalition to fight the disease and prevention any resistance from the girl in order to combine her in the family, community, studies and society.
The Eating Disorder department set herself a goal to defeat eating disorders in the religious and Orthodox community by raising suspicious to the problem, knowledge dissemination and referral to the suitable treatment, while reducing stigmas and prejudices that prevent many people from getting treated.
In the last week of November 2019, Professor Rael Strous, the South African-born medical director of Mayanei Hayeshua’s Mental Health Centre, and professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine, was in London for a busy round of meetings and events organised by the British Friends of Mayanei Hayeshua.
